Many of them are famous, respected, and highly trained. Yet alongside their zeal lies a practice that troubles the Spirit: using techniques and soulish perception<\/strong> to claim visions or words about others.<\/p>\n The method often looks like this: get quiet, hold hands, st<\/strong>are, or focus on another person until a picture, word, or feeling emerges. That \u201creading\u201d is then shared as a prophecy. Some even build reputations on their accuracy, skill, and spiritual \u201cprowess.\u201d<\/p>\n But is this biblical<\/strong>? Or is it dangerously close to divination, familiar spirits, or even the old \u201cspectral evidence\u201d of the Salem witch trials?<\/p>\n One verse often cited is 2 Kings 6:12<\/strong>, where Elisha discerned what the King of Syria spoke in his bedchamber.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udcd6 \u201cAnd one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Notice: Elisha did not conjure, stare, or scan. He was not \u201creading the king\u2019s soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n God sovereignly revealed this to protect Israel<\/strong>, not to exalt Elisha\u2019s prophetic skill.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n It was grace<\/strong>, not works. Elisha did not activate it through ritual\u2014God chose to reveal it by His Spirit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Grace (true prophecy):<\/strong><\/p>\n Comes as the Spirit wills (1 Cor. 12:11).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Always exalts Christ (Rev. 19:10).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Brings edification, exhortation, and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Cannot be manufactured.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n Works (false practice):<\/strong><\/p>\n Relies on techniques (holding hands, staring, conjuring).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Reads human souls, body language, or \u201cvibes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Exalts prophetic \u201cprowess\u201d and accuracy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Produces suspicion, fear, and elitism.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Paul warned: \u201cHaving begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?\u201d<\/em> (Gal. 3:3).<\/p>\n The Salem witch trials<\/strong> (1692) condemned many people on the basis of \u201cspectral evidence\u201d\u2014visions or impressions that only the accuser claimed to see. No proof was needed, only \u201cI saw it in the spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n This is the same error in many prophetic circles today:<\/p>\n Believers are accused, targeted, and distanced because someone \u201csaw something.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Strangers are treated with suspicion rather than with the love of Christ (1 John 1:7).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Instead of fellowship in the light, there is fear, bias, and exclusion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Jesus said: \u201cJudge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.\u201d<\/em> (John 7:24).<\/p>\n Jesus<\/strong> revealed the Samaritan woman\u2019s life (John 4:16\u201318), but He did so to lead her to salvation<\/strong>, not to shame her.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n The apostles<\/strong> in Acts gave prophetic direction by the Spirit (Acts 13:2, Acts 21:10\u201311). None of them scanned or conjured.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Paul<\/strong> set boundaries: prophecy must strengthen, encourage, and comfort. \u201cFor God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.\u201d<\/em> (1 Cor. 14:3, 33).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n True prophetic grace is protective and redemptive<\/strong>\u2014never spooky, aggressive, or targeting.<\/p>\n They claim a monopoly on insight, but often it is soulish discernment<\/strong> or even a familiar spirit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n They stare, scan, and report what they \u201csee,\u201d producing fear rather than fellowship. (a type of paranoia)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n They manifest a spooky spirit<\/strong>, intimidating others and destroying trust.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n They value accuracy and status<\/strong> more than Jesus love, real relationship and Love Walk TRUE CHURCH humility.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Paul warned: \u201cLet no man beguile you\u2026 intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head.\u201d<\/em> (Col. 2:18\u201319)<\/p>\n Return to Self Humbling with Grace:<\/strong> Gifts are given by the Spirit, not by technique. Stop teaching rituals that mimic divination.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Walk in Love:<\/strong> Without love, prophecy is just noise (1 Cor. 13:1\u20132). Do not target, intimidate, or exclude the stranger.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Test All Things:<\/strong> \u201cBeloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.\u201d<\/em> (1 John 4:1).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Reject Occult Parallels:<\/strong> Any practice that mirrors psychic reading, divination, or spectral evidence is not of Christ.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Hold the Head, Christ:<\/strong> Prophecy must lead people closer to Jesus, not to fear or dependence on a prophet.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n The true Elisha gift is by grace<\/strong>: a word of wisdom or knowledge given sovereignly by God to protect His people. The false seer practice is by works<\/strong>: conjuring impressions, reading souls, and claiming authority by \u201caccuracy.\u201d<\/p>\n The Church must discern. Prophets must repent of soulish techniques. Believers must hold fast to the Word of God.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udcd6 \u201cDespise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.\u201d<\/em> (1 Thess. 5:20\u201322).<\/p>\n Achievement Seers:\u00a0 Admonition<\/strong> SECOND SECTION\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n NOT BY TECHNIQUE, IN HOUSE STYLE,\u00a0 OR HUMAN WILL<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Prophecy in Scripture comes as the Spirit wills<\/strong>, not by human technique.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.\u201d<\/em> (2 Peter 1:21 KJV)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n Spiritual gifts are distributed by God\u2019s Spirit freely:<\/p>\n \u201cBut all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.\u201d<\/em> (1 Corinthians 12:11 KJV)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Nowhere do we see God instructing people to hold hands, reach out, and try to see visions on command.<\/p>\n Old Testament prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel) received visions directly from God<\/strong> without techniques.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n In the New Testament, prophecy was spoken as God gave utterance (Acts 2:17\u201318, Acts 21:9\u201311).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Paul commands that prophecy should strengthen, encourage, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3), but he never gives a ritual for \u201cactivating\u201d it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Technique-driven<\/strong>: It risks teaching that we can produce<\/em> prophecy on demand.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Subjective \u201cinner visions\u201d<\/strong>: This opens the door to imagination, suggestion, or pressure, rather than Spirit-led prophecy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Not modeled by Jesus or the apostles<\/strong>: Christ and His followers healed by laying on hands, but they did not use this as a means to generate prophetic visions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Praying together (Matthew 18:19\u201320).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Laying on hands for healing or ordination (Mark 16:18, Acts 13:3, 1 Timothy 4:14).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Waiting on the Lord in prayer and fasting (Acts 13:2).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n But again, no command exists to hold hands and try to see visions in someone else\u2019s life<\/p>\n \u00a0Conclusion: MEGA, MICRO BIG POINT<\/strong> Also, If this “training many in personal prophecy” IS USED\u00a0 it should be tested very carefully against Scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:20\u201321, 1 John 4:1)<\/p>\n Lay out the New Testament operation of the gifts of the Spirit<\/strong>\u2014word of wisdom, word of knowledge, prophecy<\/em>\u2014with depth, Scripture, and some Greek\/Hebrew insight.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Contrast these with false operations<\/strong>\u2014soulish, turf-guarding, impure, dangerous practices that masquerade as prophetic but deny the Spirit\u2019s fruit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Definition:<\/strong> A supernatural impartation of God\u2019s wisdom<\/em> to apply knowledge to a situation. Not natural intellect, but divine insight for decision-making, direction, or protection.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Biblical Basis:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cFor to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom\u2026\u201d<\/em> (1 Cor. 12:8).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Jesus demonstrated it in Matthew 22:18\u201322 when He answered the Pharisees about taxes: \u201cRender therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar\u2019s; and unto God the things that are God\u2019s.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Greek sophia<\/em> = skill, wisdom, divine insight beyond human reasoning.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Turf-guarding (control, cult) spirit:<\/strong> Uses human strategy to protect one\u2019s own ministry or authority instead of God\u2019s wisdom.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Tough-minded impure counsel:<\/strong> Harsh, manipulative advice presented as \u201cwisdom from God.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n James contrasts this:<\/p>\n \u201cBut the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits\u2026\u201d<\/em> (James 3:17).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n False wisdom is \u201cearthly, sensual, devilish\u201d<\/em> (James 3:15).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Definition:<\/strong> A supernatural revelation of facts, details, or knowledge<\/em> not learned by natural means. The practice ‘of holding hands, waiting, getting a ministry, lay word or vision, a picture from the Lord for the other person, although mysterious and well intentioned\u00a0 is extra-biblical<\/strong> (outside of Scripture).
