WHY SHOULD WE?&#8221;<\/strong> <strong>T.D&#8217;Arcy Leadership<\/strong> <em>(hoping to repopulate these styles of churches, persons, families) &#8220;These often bear the fruit of SELF PROTECTING NO SPINE, JUDGEMENTAL FAULT FINDING (ALSO TEMPERAMENTAL) NEW WHINE&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"350\" data-end=\"426\"><span style=\"font-size: 23px;\"><strong data-start=\"353\" data-end=\"426\">Mind Games in Ministry: The Depleting, Untrue, and Manipulative Cycle<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"428\" data-end=\"955\">In many ministry contexts, especially in the last days, we see the emergence of <strong data-start=\"508\" data-end=\"522\">mind games<\/strong> that <strong data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"539\">deplete<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"544\" data-end=\"553\">weary<\/strong> the hearts of believers. These games are rooted in <strong data-start=\"605\" data-end=\"624\">false authority<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"629\" data-end=\"660\">counterfeit spiritual power<\/strong>\u2014akin to the <strong data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"687\">dark drama<\/strong> that surrounds ministries where <strong data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"730\">gossip<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"748\">manipulation<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"774\">indirect attacks<\/strong> are common. This creates a toxic environment where <strong data-start=\"826\" data-end=\"860\">real relationships are avoided<\/strong>, and instead of reconciliation, there is a <strong data-start=\"904\" data-end=\"931\">trade in false readings<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"954\">untrue reports<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1567\">Such practices often manifest in forms of <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1018\">passive control<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1048\">spiritual manipulation<\/strong>, and they can take on a <strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1085\">&#8220;Wiccan&#8221;<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1089\" data-end=\"1104\">occult-like<\/strong> form. These ministries use <strong data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1147\">false power<\/strong> to exert <strong data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1177\">big boss control<\/strong> over others. The leader&#8217;s authority is built on manipulation, fear, and emotional tactics rather than the <strong data-start=\"1284\" data-end=\"1313\">humble, loving submission<\/strong> that <strong data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1343\">the Bible prescribes<\/strong> for leadership. This behavior isn\u2019t just a weak flaw\u2014it\u2019s a <strong data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1435\">counterfeit spiritual power<\/strong> that acts like a <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1482\">subtle form of witchcraft<\/strong>, using <strong data-start=\"1490\" data-end=\"1516\">spiritual manipulation<\/strong> and emotional <strong data-start=\"1531\" data-end=\"1547\">intimidation<\/strong> to control others.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1651\"><strong data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1651\">Avoiding Real Relationship: The Subtle Destruction of True Fellowship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1653\" data-end=\"2089\">This deceptive practice involves avoiding <strong data-start=\"1695\" data-end=\"1719\">direct confrontation<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1723\" data-end=\"1751\">one-on-one conversations<\/strong>, which are essential to <strong data-start=\"1776\" data-end=\"1800\">walking in the light<\/strong> as <strong data-start=\"1804\" data-end=\"1818\">1 John 1:7<\/strong> instructs. <strong data-start=\"1830\" data-end=\"1852\">Real relationships<\/strong> require openness, truth, and vulnerability. However, these <strong data-start=\"1912\" data-end=\"1926\">mind games<\/strong> create an environment where leaders <strong data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"1994\">refuse to meet face to face<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2031\">hide behind indirect attacks<\/strong>, gossip, and spiritualized language to manipulate others.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2672\">When leaders refuse to <strong data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2124\">submit<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"2128\" data-end=\"2166\">one-on-one, private reconciliation<\/strong> as prescribed in <strong data-start=\"2184\" data-end=\"2201\">Galatians 6:1<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2206\" data-end=\"2226\">Matthew 18:15-16<\/strong>, it opens the door to deeper, more insidious forms of control. The <strong data-start=\"2294\" data-end=\"2315\">spiritual climate<\/strong> in such ministries is often marked by <strong data-start=\"2354\" data-end=\"2378\">shifting atmospheres<\/strong>, where you feel the tension of <strong data-start=\"2410\" data-end=\"2448\">waiting for the other shoe to drop<\/strong>\u2014just like someone in an <strong data-start=\"2473\" data-end=\"2497\">abusive relationship<\/strong>. This <strong>emotional dishonesty is not a surface-level issue<\/strong>; it runs deep, affecting leaders, congregations, and the very integrity of the church. <strong>It is a craft<\/strong> where leaders, often unwittingly, create environments of manipulation, avoidance, favoritism, and control. These are not the marks of a servant-leader but of one who is caught in a spiritual performance, masking the truth for the sake of image, reputation, or power.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1586\">As pastors, ministers, and leaders, we are called to <strong data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1242\">walk in the light (I John 1:7)<\/strong>\u2014to live in truth, humility, and transparency. However, many have become accustomed to hiding behind titles, appearances, and the guise of spiritual maturity, while at the same time practicing avoidance, blame-shifting, and unbiblical control. <strong data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1521\">This is not the heart of Christ<\/strong>, and it is far from the example set by the early church leaders.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1631\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1631\">A Call to Confront Emotional Dishonesty<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1917\"><strong>It\u2019s time for us to ask:<\/strong> How have we allowed these subtle, toxic patterns of emotional dishonesty to creep into our ministries? How have we, as shepherds of God\u2019s flock, become so focused on image that we\u2019ve neglected true Christlike humility and genuine care for the people we serve?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1919\" data-end=\"2353\">If we are to <strong data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"1966\">shepherd after God&#8217;s own heart<\/strong>, we must first confront these areas within ourselves that have allowed these unhealthy, emotional dynamics to shape how we lead and interact with others. This is not just about fixing a few surface issues; this is about <strong data-start=\"2187\" data-end=\"2227\">re-aligning with the heart of Christ<\/strong>\u2014the humble, self-sacrificing servant-leader who went to the cross for all people, regardless of status, title, or importance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2397\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2397\">From Here: Challenge, Teach, Heal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2399\" data-end=\"2886\">Now that the foundation is set, you can launch into the various sections that explain the <strong data-start=\"2489\" data-end=\"2504\">root causes<\/strong> (like Adam\u2019s avoidance), the <strong data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2556\">biblical teachings<\/strong> (Psalm 132, James 3:17, 1 John 1:7), and the <strong data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2624\">real-life examples<\/strong> of leadership failure (e.g., the \u201cpoor me\u201d spirit and unaccountable behavior). What Scripture calls <em data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"852\">walking in the light<\/em> (1 John 1:7) can be quietly replaced with crafted patterns of avoidance, blame-shifting, favoritism, and manipulation. This is what we might call <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1051\">emotional dishonesty as Christian\/ministry craft<\/strong>: a counterfeit system of relating that looks spiritual but operates in hidden darkness.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1165\">The psalmist prayed:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1365\"><em data-start=\"1168\" data-end=\"1341\">\u201cLet thy<strong> priests be clothed with righteousness;<\/strong> and let thy <strong>saints shout for joy\u2026<\/strong> I will also clothe <strong>her priests with salvation:<\/strong> and her<strong> saints shall shout aloud for joy.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (Psalm 132:9, 16 KJV)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1367\" data-end=\"1730\">When priests, pastors, and overseers live in truth and integrity, God\u2019s people rejoice. But when leaders walk in emotional dishonesty, cloaked in spiritual craft, the result is confusion, mistrust, and spiritual damage to the grass roots believers. What follows is both a diagnosis and a call to repentance for leaders who desire to shepherd as Christ shepherded.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1737\" data-end=\"1785\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">1. The Root: Adam\u2019s Avoidance in the Garden<\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1849\">In Genesis 3, Adam hid from God, then shifted blame onto Eve:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1983\">\n<li data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1908\">\n<p data-start=\"1852\" data-end=\"1908\"><em data-start=\"1852\" data-end=\"1863\">Avoidance<\/em>: \u201cI was afraid\u2026 and I hid myself\u201d (v. 10).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1909\" data-end=\"1983\">\n<p data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1983\"><em data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1927\">Blame-shifting<\/em>: \u201cThe woman whom thou gavest to be with me\u2026\u201d (v. 12).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1985\" data-end=\"2248\">This is the <strong data-start=\"1997\" data-end=\"2034\">first act of emotional dishonesty<\/strong>\u2014ducking responsibility before God, projecting guilt onto another, and breaking fellowship. When leaders avoid facing truth, they repeat Adam\u2019s pattern: refusing to own their failings, while deflecting onto others<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2305\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">2. The behavior was anything but Christlike.
